Hey, What Up Knowledge Heads! It's Jae, just writing this to catch you up to speed on all things #Smoove and #Swagged Out! Lol! Ok my passion for music happened at a young age of course but I'm not going to lie I had no initial plan on writing music until i was about 14. I started much like any other fan of Hip Hop music, just vibing to the beats of my favorite songs or whatever my parents played while I was home. Age 8 started getting caught up on all things artistic. I was a freak with a pencil, drawing was my first love. Then I started to use my art to write poems. My poems would pertain to whatever I've drawn that week. The i got into writing heavily, writing short stories and what I felt were books(lol!) were my hobby in 7th grade. My freshman year i put down the pencil and grabbed a pen, and in a sense the star was born. I started as a nameless artist switch names everyday, then with the help of my younger brother, the name Jae Smoove came across in a freestyle and I stuck with it.(Shout Out to my bro, Love ya) 15, I recorded my first track, another freestyle to J. Cole's Who dat instrumental. At 16 more tracks were recorded but none had the quality i was looking for and I myself didn't have and established concept to my music, to me, I just rapped. So i began studying the Greats. I read alot, dictionary was the first obstacle I to tackle. I start forming my own style but in a weird way, people say i have no style. Others just say I'm versatile. I got with friends and family that had much support for me and similar outlooks and we formed the I.D. Music Group, and under it True Dialect was the main act. (Myself), Genecist, Lil Brev, and Navajo. Heavy Hitting Squad. At the end of all the hard work, and time spend practicing, our art is now able to prove itself to listeners.
The Knowledge Movement, is to bring the focus of knowledge back to music, so when i say knowledge heads, i'm referring to any fan of my music. The movement is to make smarts a priority in the coming generations. Support the movement, I'm gonna have many promotion items soon to give away for my supporters.
My influences, come from all types of genres. My headphones constantly played: Eric B & Rakim, Souls Of Mischief, Pharcyde, Home Group, Lords Of the Underground, Das EFX, Mobb Deep, EPMD, Big Pun, Nas, AZ, Wu-Tang, Big L Tupac, Biggie, LL Cool J, Gang Starr Jay Z, Eminem, Mos Def, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Common, De la Soul, Naughty By Nature, KRS-One, Fugees, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, Eve, Mc Lyte, Ras Kass, MF Doom, Da Brat. Many more, but overloads of music prevent me from remembering them all.....
Present rap inspirations are: Talib Qweli, J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Wale, Mac Miller, Cudi, Asher Roth, Kanye West(The old Kanye), Lupe Fiasco, Andre 3000, Busta Rhymes, Drake(The old Drake, when he first started). Again, there are other just can't think(lol).
Now this so called Bio was long as the Nile River and S***, I feel like it should be read by anyone who sees it! Thanks for checking out the page and supporting otherwise.
Side Notes: Shout out to I.D. Music Fam, True Dialect, family and friends, supporter and/or fans and the people who just happened to find out about me. Respect to all the Knowledge heads and conscious emcees. I'm out keep it swagged!
