Born in Columbia, South Carolina to Meta A.W. and Ronald Coaxum, Janine comes from a musical background. Her father played the circuit in Beaufort, S.C., the US Army Band and in retirement does technical and creative services for independent music artists. As a child, Janine never sang in church, in grade school, at talent shows or in front of large crowds, but she always had a note on her breath. In grade school she played the viola and string bass in orchestra.
In college she sang in the University Choir, the University Chorale Ensemble, sang and played the upright bass in the University Jazz Band and traveled with the Choir to Europe, where she was featured in an arrangement through a solo. In 2000,Janine became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She graduated from Fayetteville State University in 2001, earning her Bachelors in Science in Psychology and joined the United States Army for three years.
Upon return from her tour in Germany, Janine enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and enrolled at Fayetteville State University, in Fayetteville, NC once again, where she earned her Masters in Arts in Sociology while working full time for the county mental health system.
In the fall of 2007,Janine and her father set out to revive a musical spirit and created her first CD, Nine 4 Nine© 2008. Her second CD, entitled Nine Neo Black©2008 came the fall of 2008, on which she collaborated with Mike Wortham aka Doublemcee. Janine also wrote a fiction love novella entitled Loves Deceit ©2008 which is available on Amazon.com.
Janine currently works for the United States Air Force Reserve Command and the US Dept of Commerce.
